AMISA Community Needs Scholarship

The AMISA Community Needs Scholarship provides free tuition to qualifying individuals or families in AMISA's Adult and DDC programs, based on financial need. Submitting an application does not guarantee approval; decisions are made at AMISA Leadership's sole discretion. Awards are needs-based (income guidelines + other factors) and limited by available enrollment capacity. A complete application requires a typed essay (at least 1 full page single-spaced, or 2 pages double-spaced) on your interest in AMISA/DDC and self-defense, plus your 3 most recent pay stubs (or alternative proof of income). Scholarships cover tuition only — insurance, uniforms, testing fees, private lessons, and competition training are not included. Applications open twice yearly, in January and July; if approved, you must reapply with updated information every 6 months. All information submitted must be truthful — false or incomplete information may result in denial or revocation. AMISA may refuse or discontinue service for policy/safety reasons and does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin/ancestry, age, disability, genetic information, veteran/military status, marital status, or any other protected status. See AMISA website Terms for scholarship full terms of service and use.

AMISA Community Needs Scholarship Program

The AMISA Community Needs Scholarship is designed to help reduce financial barriers to participation for households experiencing demonstrated economic hardship. This program exists to support access to AMISA instruction while maintaining fairness, sustainability, and program integrity.

Scholarships are needs-based, limited in availability, and evaluated on a household-by-household basis. Award decisions are made using the information provided in this application and, where necessary, supporting documentation. Submission of an application does not guarantee approval, and all decisions are made at the sole discretion of AMISA Leadership.

Scholarship Guidelines:

Approved scholarships provide full tuition — a $0 tuition cost — for the approved student, or for all approved family members if the household applied and was approved as a family.

Scholarships do not cover the required accident insurance plan, uniforms, patches or other gear, testing/promotion fees, private instruction, competition training, or other third-party costs, unless explicitly stated otherwise in writing.

Scholarships are non-transferable and may not be combined with other discounts unless approved in writing.

Scholarships are awarded for a defined 6-month term and must be reapplied for at each renewal cycle; a prior award does not carry forward automatically. AMISA reserves the right to modify, suspend, or revoke a scholarship at any time if eligibility changes, program requirements are not met, or information provided is later found to be inaccurate or incomplete.

All information submitted must be truthful, complete, and accurate. False statements, omissions, or misrepresentation may result in disqualification or revocation of scholarship consideration.

This program is intended to serve the community responsibly while ensuring the long-term viability of AMISA programs. Full Terms here.
